Support to the development of WEAP for the Nebhana system
Detailed description of project:
As part of the project “Support to Integrated Water Resources Management” (AGIRE), GIZ advises the Office of Water Planning and Balances (BPEH) in Tunisia to develop a national water strategy and to improve the existing arbitration system in the water sector. Locally, the project contributes to the development of Water Fora where different user groups are invited to take part in the participatory management of water resources.
At regional level, the project AGIRE supports the Regional Office of Agricultural Development (CRDA) in Kairouan. It aims to develop and apply a WEAP model for the Nebhana system, which is in the action area of the CRDA of Kairouan. This model should provide technical information to support water resources management decision-making, notably by the Water Fora.
Type of services provided:
The objective of the consultant services is to support a national team of representatives of organizations involved in the water management of the Nebhana dam system, particularly the CRDA of Kairouan, to develop a WEAP model. The activities incluce:
- Supporting the national team in modeling the current situation, defining scenarios and analyzing results;
- Development of a tool for automatic extraction of the results;
- Drafting a procedure manual for the model; and
- Preparing of an instructional booklet on the model for the decision makers.
