The German Agency for International Cooperation (GIZ) supports the Mauritanian government in revising and implementing environmental policies and frameworks for a more sustainable use of natural resources, biodiversity protection and adaptation to climate change.
The consortium Particip-AHT has been contracted by GIZ to develop a sector-wide monitoring and evaluation system that supports the implementation of the 5-year National Environmental Action Plan. The AHT experts assist the Ministry of Environment and Sustainable Development in developing and setting up a fully functional computer-based M&E system on national and regional level. In a subsequent step, the consultant will support the Ministry in evaluating the monitoring results to ensure their adequate consideration in relevant decision processes.
- Design, development and implementation of web-based M&E system on indicators concerning the execution of the second national environmental action plan;
- Support for sector investment planning, administration of public finances and financial auditing;
- Development of scripts for automated download and processing of remote sensing data on precipitation, vegetation indices and occurrence of bush fires;
- Institutional analysis;
- Organisational development;
- Preparation of manuals;
- Moderation and training.
