Feasibility Study in TajikistanCreated by Andreas Mensch |
On behalf of the German Climate Technology Initiative (GCTI) of the German Federal Ministry of Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ), AHT GROUP GmbH is carrying out a Feasibility Study (FS) for a new project in Tajikistan to support measures and investments enhancing resilient rural development through adapted land use and disaster risk mitigation.
The FS was planned to begin in March 2020, however, delays due to the Covid-19 pandemic saw the project start postponed until the beginning of November 2020 with implementation taking place under ongoing pandemic restrictions.
The first study mission concluded on the 14th December 2020 with a stakeholder engagement workshop in Dushanbe, chaired by the Tajik Ministry of Economic Development and Trade (MEDT). This workshop presented and discussed preliminary findings and communicated the proposed objectives of the newly planned project, along with a project implementation structure, criteria for target area selection and possible project measures and investments. These were reviewed and discussed with the active participation of all stakeholders, producing valuable comments and recommendations which will be incorporated into the project concept development. 20 participants attended the workshop, all respecting the necessary hygienic precautions including hand disinfection, wearing face masks, and maintaining a social distance of at least 1,5 m.
During the winter mission break, the AHT team will collect and evaluate existing data, information, and reports of relevant agencies and organisations. The next study mission will take place after the snow melt, making intensive field trips to remote communities in the Tajik mountains possible.
