AHT is supporting the efforts of the Indonesian Government to enhance the UNESCO Biosphere Lore Lindu through the implementation of the KfW Forest Programme III (FP III). As part of these efforts, UNESCO invited Mr. Bernd Unger, the Chief Technical Advisor of FP III, to attend the 31st session of the International Coordinating Council of the “Man and the Biosphere” (MAB-ICC). The Lore Lindu Biosphere Reserve located in Central-Sulawesi is one of 16 such reserves in Indonesia. The MAB-ICC session highlighted the importance of sustainable development for biosphere reserves and strengthened the networking between reserves worldwide. In addition to presentations of reserve success stories presented during the sessions, participants from the biosphere reserves had the opportunity to present local specialities and products. Lore Lindu presented chocolate, coffee and fried onions; three key-products from the Biosphere Reserve produced by farmers supported by the GIZ Forest and Climate Change Programme (FORCLIME) and FP III.
