3 National Junior Extension Officers (m/f)

The national junior extension officers (m/f) have the following responsibilities:

General responsibilities:

  • Assisting the Team Leader and/or other experts
  • She/he is assigned to in their technical tasks e.g. organizing and implementing trainings
  • Follow-up on trainings and engage in quality control of the trainings provided by the local partner organizations
  • Conducting specific research needed for the program/project planning or implementation
  • Carrying out specific tasks concerning the knowledge management in the program/project
  • Carry out M&E activities
  • In part, function as trainers themselves, as the project progresses

Key tasks:

  • Supporting the coordination of activities of program components
  • Compiling an overview of project/program activities, deadlines etc. and presenting it regularly in team meetings
  • Following–up on the project monitoring system, updating information concerning the progress of the project, periodically documenting and reporting the results of the activities
  • Assisting in the recording and writing of results in each activity undertaken
  • Observing topics directly related to the program/project through evaluation by the press, direct dialogues, forum participations, public hearings, seminars, etc.
  • Assisting in the planning, coordination, and documentation of meetings, workshops, seminars trainings and other activities of the project, focusing on the technical aspects
  • Ordering and distributing project/program public relations material and GIZ Public Relation Material
  • Supporting public relations activities for the project/program
  • Supporting short-term consultants and experts of the project to fulfil their tasks during their assignment
  • Assisting in writing reports
  • Supporting the establishes a database for the project
  • Assisting in developments of training material
  • Conducting basic trainings
  • Facilitating meetings

Education:
University degree in a sector related to the program’s goals

Country / Regional experience:
Working experience in Malawi

Languages:
Good working knowledge of English (spoken and written communication) and excellent working knowledge of Chichewa (spoken and written).

Expertise / Profile:

  • Some years of professional working experience in a similar position
  • Research experience in a field of expertise related to the program’s needs
  • Good working knowledge of modern telecommunication systems
  • IT know-how (MS Office, Access or other database program)

Country:
Malawi

Region and duty station:
to be stationed in the 3 areas of intervention:

  • Mzuzu and surroundings in the Northern Region
  • Salima and surroundings in the Central Region
  • Blantyre and surroundings in the Southern Region

Project / assignment duration:
The contractor’s assignment ranges from 09/2018 until 08/2021; assignment duration 35 PM for each national junior officer (m/f).
